The class action lawsuit concerns the February 2023 Data Incident involving Sweetwater Union High School District (“Sweetwater” or “Defendant”) in which an unauthorized third party gained access to Sweetwater’s network and may have gained access to certain files containing current and former employees and students’ sensitive personal information including names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, U.S. passport numbers, financial account information, online account usernames and passwords, health insurance plan member ID numbers, and health insurance dates of coverage. Sweetwater denies any wrongdoing and denies that it has any liability but has agreed to settle the lawsuit on a class-wide basis.
To be eligible to make a claim, you must have received a notice letter of the Sweetwater Data Incident that occurred in February 2023.
Eligible claimants under the Settlement Agreement who submit a Claim Form will be eligible to receive:
Ability to enroll in a year of free credit monitoring upon submission of a claim number;
Reimbursement for the actual amount of unreimbursed out-of-pocket expenses up to $5,000.00, with supporting documentation of the monetary losses;
Compensation of up to $100.00 for time spent dealing with fraud, identity theft, or other alleged misuse of your personal information that is traceable to the Data Incident; and
